What the Walrus asked.
The big question: was it possible to improve on the best gear on the market? Could we analyse the best outdoor eyewear products on the market, and then improve each individual product feature by at least 5%? We looked at everything: from lens clarity and depth perception, to frame temperature resistatnce across extreme ranges - from -25 to -50 degrees plus. For Goggles we looked at to the non slip features on goggle straps, at the number of magnets needed to create an inpenetrable seal, and so created MagnaSeal. We even looked at the quality of the boxes that products were shiped in, did they match the quality of the brand?
And then we asked ourselves: could we design gear that was at least 5% better in every area, than anything else we looked at on the market, and make them available to you, at an accessible price?
This is the Location Extreme version of Marginal Gains, our approach to product design, the belief that by improving every individual product feature a marginal amount, we can make the resultant major quality gains on the product as a whole.
We set about buying and picking apart snow goggles, sunglasses and gear from all the best brands, analysing where there were quality features, and how we could improve on them.
The team here at Location Extreme - based in Oxford, England - then designed our own gear and, we believe we have created something special.
The Location Extreme range is a limited offering of outdoor eyewear, gear of premium quality, designed specifically for maximal performance in extreme conditions, and - manufactured with care but without the overheads of a vast multinational - and now available to you for an accessible price.
We employed the latest material and lens technology to create a range of Sunglasses and Snow Goggles purpose designed for adventurers who require the best gear for extreme locations.
Extreme conditions demand a different approach to design, more robust manufacturing materials, higher quality Italian lenses with 100% UVA & B protection, using cutting edge laser and TAC technology, and extreme temperature material resistance from +50 down to -50 degrees celsius.
We have the desire to produce the best gear, and in particular the best lenses and the finest snow goggles that money can buy.
We've done our work, and we're very happy with the results. We think you will be too.
